A new FIRE Project news portal http://sarn.firetrench.com has opened today, covering Search And Rescue news and associated news topics.

This is part of the 2011 Development Schedule enhancing FIRE Project access for Internet users.

Related Search And rescue information continues to be available at http://sar.firetrench.com together with news archives older than today’s date.

Later this year new databases and otehr applications will become available, expanding coverage of SAR topics.

 Sunderland RNLI rescue brothers after dinghy suffers engine failure

Lifeboat volunteers from Sunderland RNLI Lifeboat Station this afternoon took part in their 50th rescue mission of the year to rescue two men whose small inflatable craft was being blown offshore after suffering engine failure off Seaham beach.

 Sunderland City Mayor launches RNLI Fundraising Collection

Representatives from the local Lifeboat Crew, Lifeguard Unit and Lifeboat Guild attended a short ceremony at Sunderland Civic Centre with the Mayor and Mayoress of Sunderland, Councillor Norma Wright and Valerie Sibley.

 RNLI Baltimore Lifeboats rapid response saves lives

A Mayday alert prompted the immediate launch of both RNLI lifeboats based in Baltimore to avert a life threatening situation at sea when a 21 ft potting boat with two persons on board was disabled and drifting down on a lee shore in the open waters of Roaring Water Bay in West Cork.
